This lavishly
illustrated, super-deluxe
pattern will tell you
everything you need to know to knit your own octopus in two huggable
sizes! Tricks required: * knitting in the round * increasing by knitting into the front and back of a stitch, and by picking up and knitting the stitch below * decreasing by k2tog and SSK * pleating! (don't worry if you haven't pleated before, there are plenty of pictures to walk you through it ) The small octopus is about 12" all around, and the big one is almost 2 feet. The small size takes one skein of worsted weight yarn, and big takes two. You'll also need some googley eye buttons and a small amount of a contrasting color for the underbelly and a set of size 3 (3.25mm) double-pointed needles (2 sets for the big one). This pattern is recommended for experienced knitters, but don't fret - the tricky moves are illustrated every step of the way. If you're comfortable knitting in the round, and ready to try pleating, you can do this! PDF pattern download $6
